What to expect:
• Firstly, you will need to create your journalism profile on the Ivy platform.
• There will be one live Microsoft Teams class each week after school hours dedicated to
journalism training from a theoretical and practical approach. The recorded live lesson will
also be made available on the Ivy platform.
• At the end of each lesson, your lecturer will provide you with topics to write about and
submit before the appointed deadline.
• Each week we will choose six different articles to publish in our newsletter. Yours could be
one of them.
Topics we will cover:
We will cover various different and interesting topics such as
• business & current affairs
• sport
• lifestyle (music, entertainment, leisure, shopping, cooking, exercise, home, gardening,
healthy eating etc.)
• social change
• social media
• cyber journalism
• investigative reporting
• culture
• technology
• celebrity journalism
• art
What you will gain:
Being a part of this experience will greatly improve your writing skills and give you a head start at
becoming a writer or journalist in the future. Having your newsletter published will also look very
impressive on your CV and prepare you for a bright future in the workplace or as a freelance
journalist.
Things to keep in mind:
The key to having your written piece chosen is patience, a teachable spirit, and a never-give-up
attitude. Remember that perfection takes time!
